CHOPTA TREK: COMPLETE TREKKING GUIDE

Introduction

One of the most prominent treks in the Garhwal region, the Deoriatal- Chopta- Chandrashila trek beautifully showcases the glory of the Himalayas. There are not many treks that offer viewpoints like Chandrashila which offers spectacular views of mountains like Nanda Devi, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar peak camp Mt. Trish. 

OVERVIEW:

During the trek, you will see the beautiful emerald lake t Deoria, the Tungnath shrine, the world’s tallest Shiva temple, and the fascinating Chandrashila peak. This walk has so much to offer, but it’s also an easy, moderate hike that’s perfect for beginners. The exhilarating trek takes you to around 12,100 feet above sea level and offers rewarding views.you can also visit Indrahar Pass Trek. 

The Himalayan village of Chopta is a charming destination in itself, full of natural abundance. This is an undiscovered destination in Uttarakhand where you can reconnect with nature and refresh and rejuvenate. There is a lot of joy in this excursion that makes it such a rewarding experience. 

 About  Trek 

 Chopta Valley is situated at an altitude of 2680 meters and is surrounded by immense natural beauty. Because nature is an exceptional place, civilization does not touch here  and it can be seen in its raw and untouched form. Embark on this adventurous trek with mountaineering certified trek leaders and experienced local guides.  Deoriatal-Chopta-Chandrashila trek starts from Rishikesh. We will pick you up from  Rishikesh TTH HQ (Tapovan) early in the morning and drive to Sari village. Sari is a beautiful Himalayan village which is the base of the Deoria Valley. It is about 190 km  from Rishikesh and takes about 7 hours. 

 Day 2 is our first trekking day as we trek from Sar to Deoria valley. The trek to Sari Deoria valley is short, about 3 kilometers and the journey takes only about an hour. At a height of 7,800 feet, Deoriatal offers magnificent views of the mighty Chaukhamba peaks. On a clear day, you can admire the reflections of the peaks in the water, a surreal sight to capture. Camps at night by the lake. 

 The next day you travel from Deoriatal to Baniyakund via Rohini Bugyal. It is  16 km away and takes 7-8 hours to complete the trek. Baniyakund in Chopta Valley is at a height of 8700 feet and exhibits the sights of alpine meadows and meadows and  you will also find a beautiful waterfall while trekking. Camp here for the night under the beautiful star show. 

 Next day

we  drive from Baniyakund to Chopta (3 km distance) and from Chopta we start trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila. Tungnath is the tallest Shiva temple in the world and  a revered place of worship for  Hindus. Chandrashila is the highest viewpoint of the trek, offering unobstructed views of some of the most important Himalayan peaks. We landed at Chopta the same day and drove back to Baniyakund. 

last day

 On the last day of the trek, we travel from Baniyakund to Rishikesh along the same route  we came, taking with us the memories of the mountains. Avail convenient transportation services to and from  Rishikesh. 

 What you can expect during the trek 

 The peak of the Chopta-Chandrashila trek is  12,100 feet above sea level and thus offers a clear view of the surrounding mountains. The entire trek  from Sar to Chandrashila and back covers around 30 km and an experienced guide and our mountaineering certified trek guides will accompany you throughout the trek, making certain you maximise your experience.

 Chopta-Chandrashila is an easy to moderate  trek which makes it suitable for both beginners and families. With a rich breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by our chef, you will enjoy  the most beautiful views and stay in high quality tents. Our chefs are local people, so you can try  the local dishes of the area. 

 The last ATM point is in Ukhimath, but cash supply cannot always be guaranteed. Therefore, it is recommended to bring enough money with you. If you want to withdraw money, do it in Rishikesh, there are many ATMs in Rishikesh. 

 Since the hike is high, the temperature varies during the hike, so  dress appropriately with layers to protect yourself from changing temperatures. During the day the temperature remains between 8 and 15 degrees, while at night the temperature drops quite low and remains between 3 and -5 degrees. 

Our hiking guides are also Wilderness First Aids and  are always available to ensure maximum safety and provide you with additional information to help you get the most out of your hike. Very few places have electricity, so it is recommended to bring extra batteries for  electronic equipment.
