What is a British National Overseas?

British National Overseas status is a form of British nationality held by people with a connection to Hong Kong. BN(O) status was created by the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1997 to replace British Dependent Territories citizenship, which was acquired on 6 February 1983 when the British Dependent Territories became crown colonies.

As of 31 January 2020, there are an estimated 3.4 million BN(O)s, making them the largest group of British nationals in the world.

BN(O) status does not entitle a person to live or work in the United Kingdom, and BN(O)s are not considered British citizens for the purpose of UK immigration law. However, BN(O)s are eligible for a British passport and have certain rights in the United Kingdom.

British National (Overseas) status is a form of British nationality which was granted to eligible Hong Kong residents by the United Kingdom before the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997.

The status allows holders to live and work in the UK without a visa and to apply for British citizenship.

If you are a holder of British National (Overseas) status, you are advised to register your status with the UK government. This will ensure that you are able to maintain your status and enjoy the benefits that come with it.

Bno Visa

The Bno visa is a type of visa that allows business professionals from certain countries to enter the United Kingdom for business purposes. This visa is valid for a period of six months and allows the holder to undertake a variety of activities, such as attending business meetings, conferences, and seminars.

If you are a business professional from a country that is not currently on the list of Bno visa-eligible countries, you may still be able to apply for this visa if you can prove that you have a legitimate business reason for visiting the UK.

The Bno Visa is a travel document that allows British nationals without a passport to enter and exit the United Kingdom. It is valid for five years and allows the holder to travel to and from the UK as many times as they wish. The visa also allows the holder to work and study in the UK, and to access public services such as healthcare and education.
