Accessory Design is a professional discipline that involves research and analysis of traditional as well as modern contemporary fashion trends, consumer behaviour including their preferences, tastes as well as buying pattern, materials available, techniques, socio cultural factors affecting buying decision etc. so as to design, visualize and create attractive and functional wearable and non-wearable accessories. An Accessory Designer must be able to predict the possible trends besides coming up with designs that appeal to consumers. Accessory Design works with varied materials like cloth, leather, various types of metals etc. and encompasses personal accessories like watches, jewellery, bags, footwear, belts etc. or objects related to home décor or comfort products.
Accessory Design is multi-discipline and encourages students by offering a canvas for self expression and exploration. Students clearing this course can work in multiple domains such as furniture designing, home accessories, bathroom accessories, Jewellery designing, interior designing, luxury product designing and hand bag designing etc.
While a formal education is not a requirement for becoming an accessory designer, associate’s or bachelor’s degree programs in relevant fields, such as fashion design or merchandising, can help aspiring professionals gain practical skills and knowledge of the fashion industry. Students enrolled in general fashion design programs learn about color theory, pattern drafting, garment construction, and textiles. They also study business and sketching and work with CAD software.
Eligibility:
- In order to enroll in Accessory Design Courses, the student must have cleared his 10 +2 class in any discipline from a recognised board.
- The eligible candidates are to appear in an entrance test, which will be followed by group discussion and personal interview.
